President Obama Rejects Proposal

President Obama announced this morning that he is rejecting the keystone x-l pipeline proposal in Canada.

Obama expressed his concerns about the impact on the environment which outweighed the pipeline’s benefit.

The pipeline would transport oil from heavy tar sands in Alberta, Canada to the gulf coast.

“The state department has decided that the Keystone XL Pipeline would not serve the national interests of the United States. I agree with that decision.”

Montana lawmakers had a lot to say about the president’s decision.

 

Senior Senator Tester Statement:

“I’m disappointed with the President’s decision.  After dragging his feet for years on the Keystone pipeline, the President missed an opportunity to strengthen America’s energy security.”

 

While senator Jon Tester says he is disappointed with the president’s decision and after dragging his feet for years on the keystone pipeline, the president missed an opportunity to strengthen America’s energy security.

 

Junior Senator Daines Statement:

“President Obama had an opportunity to help create good-paying jobs with the construction of the Keystone pipeline, but instead he chose to blatantly disregard the economic needs of this nation.”

Congressman Zinke Statement:

“The President is 100 percent wrong on Keystone and every candidate who sides with him on this will pay the price on Election Day because the American people are fed up with it.”

 

Congressman Ryan Zinke says the president is 100 percent wrong on keystone and every candidate who sides with him on this will pay the price on election day because the American people are fed up with it.

The nearly two thousand mile pipeline would cost eight billion dollars to build and has faced serious contention from the likes of environmentalists, democrats and landowners in its path.
